Chadar Treks - Things to Carry

Thrillophilia Chadar Trek is an arduous trek of Ladakh. As your trek will last for 8 days (10 inclusive of your arrival and departure dates from Ladakh), you need to have a to-do-list before your Ladakh arrival. There are a few essential things which must be a part of every traveller's backpack. Without the listed essentials, you won't be able to enjoy your Chadar Trek fully. Backpack, trekking pole, thermoplastic water bottle, synthetic tracksuits, thermal inners, and medications are some of them.

1. Footwear

For Chadar Trek, gumboots are always the preferred footwear. You can wear your regular shoes or footwear while you arrive in Ladakh. However, it won't help much in trekking, and you may soon give up due to leg pains. Bring a pair of gumboots for each trekker to enjoy hassle-free Chadar Trekking.

2. Medicines

Medicines should be a top priority on your things to carry for Chadar trek. You will have to undergo a mandatory medical check on day 3 of your trek where you might have to produce a proper prescription for your medication. Make sure that you carry your prescription along with you. While emergency medications will always be available with your tour organizers, you are requested to bring your medicines for chronic disorders such as diabetes. Also, it is advisable to have a checklist for the medication you are sensitive to. You may ask your medical practitioner to issue this list before you begin your journey to Chadar trek.

3. Clothes

For clothes, it is always good to keep track of the weather and climatic conditions at Ladakh. This will help you to pack your bag with essential clothing. If you are planning to reach here during winters exclusively for Chadar Trek, you need to keep sufficient woollen clothes. Also, synthetic tracksuits, gumboots, full sleeve wooled t-shirts with collar, thick jacket, sweater, thermal inners, woollen monkey cap, synthetic waterproof glove, scarf or muffler, sports and woollen socks are requisite.
